Stellwagon to Tillies Banks have been loaded with fish! Top feeding Pollock are the newest addition to the Gulf of Maine. Weekend boaters chasing birds like they do for Bass and Blues are finding schools of Pollock gorging on eels! These Pollock are from 4-20 plus pounds and will put your rod to the gunwale when hooked! This has been a great addition to the already good Cod and Haddock fishing!Tom and friends from Montreal were out on the SHEILA D II Sunay 5/24/10. We headed north to Jeffries looking for some larger cod. The cod never showed but the crew from Canada managed 30 Haddock, 12 Cod , a couple of Pollock and a large Wolffish we had to throw back!

Gloucester Cod Fishing – AT&T Double Double Headers on Tuna Hunter
The AT&T Guys had a great Gloucester cod fishing charters aboard Tuna Hunter.

A typical of recent charters, the morning was slow, so Tuna Hunter moved around Stellwagen and changed tactics to locate hungry fish. The moves paid off when they dropped jigs and bait into a pod of large cod. double headers of 20 – 30 lb cod kept the guys for AT&T busy for the rest of the day.

The last trip for this crew they landed two giant bluefin tuna (see photo on our Facebook page). So of course we are happy to have these guys, and their luck, return for a cod & haddock fishing charter aboard Tuna Hunter.

A gorgeous day, good company, and great cod fishing made for a good time for all. No hugies on this trip, but steady action of keeper cod, limiting out by the end of the day.
We look forward to fishing with these guys in a month or two, when the bluefin arrive. Bluefin tuna fishing is right around the corner! And, we already have Striped Bass in Gloucester, so get ready for Gloucester striped bass charters – call soon for your date, 978-407-1351 or email captain@tunahunter.com . Good fishing to you!

Tuna Hunter ventured to the Mussels on Stellwagon Bank for the early morning bite, then switched to various other cod hot spots to round out the day. Fish responded mostly to jigs this fay, but we all know that changes day to day – Tuna Hunter adapts to keep you catching all day long.

I would like to thank Joe Curcuru and the staff at Fisherman’s Outfitter for their assistance in my recent purchase of my Stand up rod and reel combo. We exchanged some emails and I ended up calling directed to Joe who guided me through to tailor my rod, reel and line selection.
I found Fisherman’s Outfitter after watching a Dennis Braid DVD “Stand up to a Giant” and he made reference to Fisherman’s Outfitter that they can suit your needs so pop in and take a look, he was right a great shop and pleasant professional staff.
The guys loaded my reel and shipped the rod and reel arriving just before my trip from HK to Okinawa Japan where I landed a nice Tuna on stand up gear but nothing Dennis has to worry about yet. The reel screamed and 200yds of top shot disappeared in a flash with my heart pumping in fear hoping the top shot to braid was a good connection and on retrieve a great job by the folks that put the package together.
I will make sure to visit Fisherman’s Outfitter on my next visit to the US and personally thank Joe and the team and further load up on the great selection of Quality gear.
Kind regards,
Branko lenger
Spring cod fishing has arrived! Finally we can all get back out on the water for some great bottom fishing.
Phil’s Crew spent a fine day cod fishing last Saturday aboard Tuna Hunter. They traveled to the Mussels for the morning bite, then moved to various favorite holes around Stellwagen Bank to round out the trip. Fishing was fantastic -the best bite being early in the day on jigs, but Phil’s Crew reeled in keepers all day long. Papa was high hook.
