Shimano Stella 8000SW-PG Series Saltwater Spinning Reels
Stella SW Saltwater spinning reels — winner of the ICAST Best Saltwater Reel award — is touted for its excellent durability features, including cold forged ceramic coated aluminum spool, special spool lip coating and diamond-like carbon line roller. All should make this spinner very corrosion proof. Gear designs have been improved for extra durability as well, and the reels feature "propulsion line management system" and Aero Wrap II Oscillation. The Shimano Stella 8000SW is a great all around size for medium to heavy duty Saltwater Fishing. Anglers will generally fill their 8000's with either 16-20lb monofilament or 40-65lb spectra braid for jigging.
The major difference between the Stella 8000SW and the SW-PG is the Gear Ratio. The Stella 8000SW has a high gear ratio designed for Hi-Speed Butterfly Style Jigging and casting Spoons. The Stella 8000SW-PG has a low gear ratio designed for raw cranking power. A great choice for retrieving large swimming plugs and poppers.
