Another great family recipe for all you fish lovers out there is broiled parmesan-lemon tilapia. This recipe takes a little time to prepare and is quite delicious. Like any other recipe, if you are serving more than six people, simply double the recipe. Fish is rich in omega 3 fatty oils and helps to lower your cholesterol.

Ingredients

  • Tilapia fish fillets, approximately 2 ½ pounds
  • Butter or Margarine, 2-4 T melted
  • Fresh lemon juice, approximately 2 tsp
  • Parmesan-Lemon Sauce
  • Mayonnaise, 1 cup
  • Fresh lemon juice, 2 T.
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese, ½ cup
  • Garnish with 2 sliced lemons and fresh, chopped parsley

Method

Take the fish out of the package and make sure it is defrosted. Rinse the fish in cold   water and drain completely. Then brush the top of the tilapia with the melted butter. Then sprinkle with lemon juice.

Turn on the broiler for the oven. Take some tin foil and brush with butter. Place the tilapia on the tin foil. Broil for approximately five to six minutes, approximately four inches away from the heat.

You will be able to tell if the Tilapia fish fillets are done or not by testing them with a fork. They should be ready to flake and opaque in color.

Prepare the Parmesan Lemon Sauce, then top each piece of fish with it. You will use approximately one to two tablespoons. Put the fish back under the broiler for another two to three minutes. You will be able to tell if it is done when the sauce is puffy and golden brown.

Place the fish on serving plates and remember that presentation is important. Top each piece of tilapia with fresh lemon and chopped parsley. Serve with rice and vegetables and a green salad to complete the meal.

Some interesting facts that you may not know about tilapia fish is that they are found in fresh water. They are part of the cichilid family and live in ponds, rivers and streams. They are found in warm water areas, rarely surviving in temperatures that are lower than seventy degrees.

The tilapia fish is adaptable to farming and are used as a source of food. They are a fast-growing species, which helps to make the species a favorite of many commercial industries.
